Interlease supports Very Special Kids

Interlease is pleased to confirm that they have donated $1 for every Christmas card sent to this worthy charity.

“Something as simple as making a donation from Christmas cards sent can really make a difference for Very Special Kids,” said Very Special Kids CEO, David Agnew.

“Interlease’s donation will go towards providing a weekend of respite at Very Special Kids House for a child with high medical care needs, giving their family a much-needed break. For many of the families relying on Very Special Kids, the House is the only place their child can stay other than home or in hospital. On behalf of these families, I’d like to thank Interlease for thinking of us at Christmas and making this generous contribution.”

ParaQuad Charity Golf Day 2007

He doesn’t rank his golf talent highly, but Interlease’s Jason Barrie was part of the winning team in the Daddo Paraquad Charity Golf Day at Moonah Links.

The event was a major success, raising $50,000 and attracting a number of celebrities including the likes of Daddo family members Peter, Andrew and Lochie, Celebrity chef Geoff “Coxy” Cox, and ex-footballer Jim Stynes.

ParaQuad Victoria assists people with disabilities to regain, retain and extend their independence by providing a range of individually tailored services that are flexible and responsive to changing needs.

Jason’s association with ParaQuad goes back a long way as a result of his own personal experience. Back in 1999 he suffered a serious spinal injury when his neck was broken while playing Australian rules football. ParaQuad helped Jason to make a full recovery, and he has been involved with the organisation ever since.

“ParaQuad provides a whole range of support, not just physical but also social support,” says Jason. “There’s a lot of things, especially when you break your neck, that you don’t know what you are going to go through as far as your dependence and independence. I was one of the lucky ones, but most people aren’t. ParaQuad meet a need within the area of spinal disabilities”.

As for the golf day, Jason says it was all good fun. “We were just lucky enough to win. It certainly wasn’t because of my golf.”
